UCW
Purpose of U.C.W.
To
unite all the women of the Congregation for the total mission of the church and
to provide a medium through which they may express their loyalty and devotion to
Jesus Christ in Christian witness, study, fellowship and service.
Aurora United Church currently has three active U.C.W. units. All women of the
church are welcome to attend any of the units for their program or to become
members. Monthly meetings consist of programs, short worship and social time and
often include guest speakers or outings. We invite you to come and meet us at
one of our meetings in the Founders’ room at the Church or attend one of our
group activities. To find out what the current month’s program is please call
the unit leader or check the church bulletin or newsletter.

Some of our current works include:
► We hold a spring and fall
Rummage sale each year, providing outreach to the community by offering seasonal
clothing for sale at very low prices and also donate the monies raised to many
local and regional agencies.
► Approximately 250 Christmas
stockings were sewn and delivered to men, women, children and infants in York
Region.
Our congregational families fill
these stockings.
►We take an offering at each of
our monthly meetings for “Fellowship of the Least Coin”. This is an
international ecumenical movement of prayer for peace and justice. Each month we
donate our least coin as do others around the world with their least coin. The
money raised is used to respond to the human need around the world, and the
individual prayers offered by FLC participants create a strong force in the
global struggle for peace and reconciliation.
► Our Friendship Coordinator
sends out many cards to keep in touch with our AUC families and
UCW members in their time of need or time of celebration.
► UCW members also participate
in other outreach projects such as:
·
Collecting
Campbell’s soup labels
·
Pop tabs for
wheelchairs
·
Prescription
eyeglasses and non prescription sunglasses along with eye glass cases for the
Lions Club
·
Postage stamps for
The Leprosy Mission
►We participate in Living Waters Presbyterial U.C.W meetings.
►We also participate in the
World Day of Prayer Service and are on a rotation to host it with other churches
in the Region. Mark your calendar!
► Within our own church we hold
a biennial U.C.W Sunday Service which is put on by our members and features a
U.C.W. choir.
