Sanctuary & Visual Arts

S.V.A.C. of A.U.C. or the Sanctuary Visual Arts Committee of Aurora United Church is a small committee of 8 members who meet 4 or 5 times throughout the year to plan and execute the decoration of the sanctuary.

As the church year rolls through its seasons the look of our sanctuary changes to reflect and enhance the nature of worship or possibly to reflect the nature of the worshipers in it.

In either case, using colours, flowers, symbols, words and images in the form of banners, liturgical cloths, assemblages or purely decorative displays this committee tries to add to the visual experience of worship and enliven the setting of fellowship.

Here's what we do...

FLORAL ARRANGEMENTS

The green part of this committee focuses on floral creations and welcomes offers from anyone who shares this passion.

• create fresh flower arrangements from the garden throughout the year

• special flower arrangements for church seasons

• at Easter and Xmas potted flowers donated by the congregation in honour of loved ones are arranged in abundance

DECORATIONS

Like in our own homes, the decorations that adorn the walls in celebration of the seasons create traditions that are shared by the young and the old in our church family.

BANNERS AND LITURGICAL CLOTHS

These hand sewn projects usually require the efforts of several or many volunteers. The bonus - more fun, more excitement!
