Workshop Rotation for Sunday School - beginning September 2010
This coming Fall the Sunday School program for
children and youth in grades Kindergarten to 8 will be changing.
The Nursery
and ages 3-4 class will continue to have their own program. We will move
from a Lectionary- based model to the Workshop Rotation (www.rotation.org)
model. The Workshop Rotation Model for Sunday morning children’s programming
frees workshop leaders to be creative in many directions - music, cooking,
drama, art, AV, games, science, storytelling...
How cool is that?
The children
really learn the bible story or theme because they experience it with so
many senses and get such a better feel for the story.
Workshop Leaders are
able to teach from their strengths. Attendance increases and best of all we
know the students are getting the message of God's love and understanding it
more fully than sometimes we even expect!
Our Fall 2010 Workshop
Rotation will be based on the story of Creation from the first book of the
bible – the book of Genesis.
The workshops we have chosen to do are cooking,
AV, science and games.
We are looking for two adults to teach each
workshop – September 26, October 3, 17 & 24.
Preparation is simplified,
as the children rotate through the workshops — the same workshop is led by
the same leaders for four weeks, only each week it is a different group of
children who experience it.
We are also looking for one adult to
accompany each class every week – SK & gr. 1; gr. 2 & 3; gr. 4 & 5; gr. 6-8.
These adults will be known as Shepherds and will guide their “flock” to the
different workshop.
