 The Season of Advent

‘Light One Candle’ is the invitation that comes to us in this time as we  consider the English proverb; ‘It is better to light one candle than to curse the darkness.’

In the darkest time of the year, God’s people await the light of Christ, born  to us at Christmas. In these days of preparation then, we will mark the weeks of Hope, Peace, Joy and Love—this year, lighting our candles to denote the hope we all bear in the world’s darkness.

You can participate in marking our theme this year by bringing a candle holder (with candle) to add to our worship table each week—perhaps a candle that holds special meaning to you in this time of the year…and we will light the week to week, creating as much light as possible.

As we consider what it means to give of ourselves in this time, let us encourage each other to open ourselves to the light, which, even now is making its way to us.

The Worship Committee wishes you a blessed Advent season!
