From July 21‒25, Decision sessions will be taking place at General Council 44, including the election for Moderator on July 23. Decision Sessions are open to visitors and will be held live via PheedLoop (space is still available to register) as well as on The United Church of Canada's YouTube channel.

The United Church of Canada has elected the Rev. Dr. Carmen Lansdowne, Kwisa’lakw, 47, as its 44th Moderator. She will be the church’s spiritual leader for the next three years.

Meeting online for the first time in its 97-year history, the church’s General Council 44 will install the new Moderator at its closing worship service on August 7, 2022. This worship service will be livestreamed across the country, with an in-person event held at Canadian Memorial United Church in Vancouver at 1 p.m. PT.

The Rev. Dr. Carmen Lansdowne shares her message (on this page) to The United Church of Canada as Moderator Nominee. The speech begins briefly in French, with subtitles, and continues in English. For more on the Rev. Dr. Carmen Lansdowne view her full biography and statement of vision on the General Council 44 webpage.
