Our Affirming Congregation Committee has been working together for a year and a half now to prepare our congregation to consider becoming an Affirming Congregation of the United Church of Canada. Throughout that time we have worshipped, consulted, educated and shared what this change would mean for our congregation. On January 26, following worship, Bill Newman, as Council Chair will lead us in voting on the first official step of the process - accepting our Affirming Vision Statement. On Sundays January 12, 19 and 26, members of the Affirming Congregation Committee have been asked to answer the question, "Why is it important to you that Aurora United Church becomes an Affirming Congregation?" Their responses are below.
