Congratulations to Rev. Tim Dayfoot on his 40th year of ordination to the ministry of word, sacrament and pastoral care. Tim was ordained at the meeting of Toronto Conference on June 2, 1985, St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Barrie. Tim recalls that Toronto Conference arranged to hold their 1985 Celebration of Ministry service at St. Mary’s because it was the biggest sanctuary in Barrie, and fortunately, it was not in a part of Barrie that was damaged by the tornado. The Conference meeting, on the other hand, was in a hotel in the south part of Barrie that was affected. When Tim spoke to conference before the vote to ordain him, there was no power, no microphones or ceiling lights. Fortunately there were windows that let in enough light to keep the meeting going. Everyone on the floor of Conference had to be quiet so that the candidates for ordination could be heard. Tim was one of 19 candidates being ordained in Toronto Conference that year.
Tim has faithfully served with an unwavering dedication to his calling, which was expressed during his time with Aurora United Church 2008-2009.
