Dear Friends, we need your voice!
The Ontario government is pushing forward Bill 5, “Protect Ontario by Unleashing our Economy Act 2025,” which threatens environmental protections, limits citizen engagement, and reduces Indigenous and local community participation in critical decisions.
The Bill has already passed 2nd reading and is now in Public Hearings with the Standing Committee on the Interior. This bill introduces sweeping changes to key legislation, including the Electricity Act, Endangered Species Act, Environmental Protection Act, Mining Act, and more—potentially reshaping Ontario’s future in ways that could harm ecosystems and communities.
A letter has already been sent to the Standing Committee by our Regional President, The Rev. Tina Conlon, but more voices are crucial.
What can you do? Send your own letter or email to the Standing Committee, your MPP and the Premier urging them to reconsider these changes. Or sign the online letter provided by Ecojustice.
Let us know if you take action or need more information. Together, we can stand for environmental justice.
